Oxford

Headed out to Oxford today to photograph my favorite sycamore tree. A massive tree that has fallen over Harker's Run. It has some beautiful details.

Miami is on spring break so it was much quieter than the last time we hiked out there.

We found this area from the book 60 hikes within 60 miles of Cincinnati We have discovered some great trails through this book.

February in the studio...

The image below is a close up photograph of a sycamore tree. I love the detail. I had the photograph enlarged and printed on transparent film, then placed over a ground of gold  leaf. I plan to add a layer of resin over the image.

Manifest 2.21.12

The Cincinnati Observatory

On the way home from Manifest last night I drove to  The Cincinnati Observatory. Earlier in the day I had heard a piece on NPR about the "geomagnetic storm" that had occurred on the sun the day before. It made me think of taking a quick detour up to this wonderful place tucked away at the end of a residential street in our neighborhood.

Manifest

Another great evening of sketching at Manifest. Here are a few photos as the group waits for the model to return from a break.

Evening at the Art Opening

Driving to the Essex last night I was struck by the beautiful sunset. As I walked into my studio, I thought I might have missed the final moments, but as I walked to the window and looked out toward downtown I was able to capture the last bits of color. If you stand on a chair, and peer out at just the right angle you can see the Queen City Square... looks almost like this...

 but more like this...

Artibility Fundraiser for Starfire

Starfire held their 4th annual Artibility Fundraiser last night. What a great crowd! The event was held at Art Design Consultants and great food was served by Funky's Catering.
